Equipping, Empowering and Encouraging Caregivers
|
CARE For One Another
First released in 2008, this book explores Biblical Caregiving Principles from a Christian perspective. This book is now in its third printing, second edition.
The Bible tells us to accept one another, to be kind and compassionate to one another, to encourage one another, and to instruct one another. Also, to live in harmony with one another, to love one another, to offer hospitality to one another, to serve one another, and to show mercy and compassion to one another. While the phrase Care for one another is not specifically stated, I see it as an umbrella statement that covers the many one another’s and as the basis for biblically based caregiving.
I wrote this book to help individuals, families, pastors, lay leaders, social service professionals and health care providers understand and apply biblical caregiving principles. I hope to provoke thought and action through the presentation of scripture that relates to the aging and caregiving processes. I find that people often make mention of scripture related aging but tend not to have given it much consideration. For example, Honor Your Father and Mother is a well-known commandment but have you ever really given consideration to the meaning and significance.

When it comes to compassion, scripture is clear: God shows no favoritism. But human beings? Let’s be honest … that’s another story. In the church, a legitimate desire to be relevant in order to reach people has become a double-edged sword. Because of the high speed, youth-obsessed culture of the Western world, a simple theological and practical approach to caring for the elderly has been low on our priority scale.
Charles has presented a clear biblical response to this issue. Since God shows no partiality, then this is a long overdue book in our society. I love his mission to equip, encourage and enable people to care for a generation whose voice is often lost in the noise. But above all, this is a book about compassion. And love never fails.

Having helped to take care of both my grandparents after my mom’s death — and now my father — I am most appreciative of your work and your book. The book offers great points and explanations about the spiritual basis of the kind of loving care our elders deserve.

This is a wonderful new book about caregiving. Charles Puchta opens the door to a deeper experience of the spiritual side of caring for one another. This book eloquently addresses the important matter of being present to another human being, while imparting biblical principals.
Charles has given us a valuable and clearly written book to be used by faith community nurses, lay health ministers, clergy, health care professionals and faith community leaders in their practices. This book is filled with insight and wisdom - a truly valuable resource.

Teaching biblical principles of caregiving for aging parents and others should be one of the priorities of the church. In addition to caring for our loved ones, such a study is a great open door for churches to use as an evangelism approach.
Having facilitated the small group curriculum Caregiving: Caring for Aging Parents by Charles Puchta, I am more aware of the need and the impact that such a ministry can have.
Charles’ new book Care for One Another is a valuable resource for preparing to care with the love of Christ for people who may otherwise be overlooked.

Charles, I love this book. It was so well written. I love the way you help people relate and explain the scripture so it is relevant to what’s happening in our lives. The world is in such turmoil, and people are so confused about themselves, life and even death.
This book helps people understand and apply the various aging and caregiving principles. It is easy to read and best of all based on scripture. The questions at the end of each chapter encourage thought and give people hope for their current situation and the future. No doubt it will be a blessing to a lot of people.
