Care is a process, not an event...
As parents age and loved ones become ill, people often turn to their church for help. While churches generally do a good job of providing care and support at the time of crisis, families also need on-going guidance and encouragement. Families facing health-related challenges (e.g. Medical Diagnosis, Hospitalization, Accident, Surgery, and General Health Concern) need practical information and spiritual guidance to help prepare for the days, months, and years ahead. We often hear that pastors and church staff either don’t have the experience, knowledge, time, or resources to do more.
Common and Emerging Concerns
The church is in a unique position to provide support and encouragement for families facing health-related concerns. As you know, the church is involved in every step along the way.
| Do you ever wonder?
How can we more effectively care for families facing aging or illness concerns?
How can we help our staff and lay leaders better minister to
families health-related needs?
How can we avoid someone with a health-related concern being
overlooked or “falling through the cracks”?
|
We can help you make the most of your time and maintain purposeful contact with families facing health-related challenges. We can help you minister to families facing aging and illness concerns within your community. We offer a variety of information resources and educational programs to help.
BOOKS
At a minimum, we suggest every church have at least one copy of our two books – The Caregiver Resource Guide and Care For One Another - on hand for reference and to loan to families. Our Caregiving, Caring For Aging Parents curriculum is great for Sunday school classes and small groups.

CARE GUIDELINES
We provide guidelines specific to a variety of health-related concerns. Each handbook provides guidelines, perspectives and insight on a variety of aging and illness scenarios which help church staff and lay leaders better understand and minister to the challenges families face. Each handbook suggests what to do, when to do it, what to say, what to ask and how to best comfort and encourage.
CARE PUBLICATIONS
We offer a selection of publications as part of our Care Ministry Series. We encourage churches and other faith-based organizations to duplicate and distribute the publications. Each care publication provides practical information and biblical perspectives addressing care issues and concerns that families struggle with most.
